Dad's been gone eight years and and the tractor hadn't been used in almost 10 years. Luckily, he always did a great job of storing his equipment. I rolled it out of his basement this spring, changed the fluids, and put in a new battery and it fired right up.

No LEDs but I'd like brighter headlights. Are there good options out there?  I want to keep the stock look.

I thought the black hoods used the sealed beam style lighting, but I'm not sure....maybe someone who knows more about the black hoods will chime in..

Be cautious. The plastic lens piece that covers the lamps is no longer available and this model was unique to a short production period so pretty seldom seen on eBay or elsewhere.

LED replacements are likely only option for better brightness.

these C161's with fiberglass hoods did not have same light set up as the other blackhood models of the era.

I plan to remove the four screws that hold the lens in place and see what it looks like inside.  It looks like there's a standard automotive style bulb inside there.

they are standard. I seem to recall 1156 but not certain. I bought a set of LED's that replace the automotive bulb. Better brightness from what others have indicated and not over much amperage draw and heat is within acceptable amounts.

That sure looks great. My favorite black hood because of the dash style. :)

I saw the weight hanger/bumper Jeff (WVHillbilly520H) made for the 520 and I thought it would be perfect to protect the fiberglass black hood on my 161 so I contacted him to make me one.  He did and it turned out great.  It even had the 161 engraved in it.  He made it look so nice I don't know if I can hang weights on it.

Very sharp! Looks like it could use plastic dust covers on the front wheels. I use hose clamps to hold them on.

Thanks.  I have reinstalled them. I just had them off to clean up the front wheels a little.

Thanks, Digger. Here's how she looks now after retiring the original weather cracked tires (I still have them).

Thank you. He took very good care of his things. It used to drive me crazy how particular he was with everything. Now I am very thankful and I have to admit it rubbed off on me as well. Now I drive my own kids crazy.
