I'm debating whether or not to upgrade to the four-bolt hub on my C165.  I have a swept axle up front with 16 6.50-8 ags up front and I'm considering this upgrade to make wheel swaps much easier.  So, to those of you whom have went with this swap, will the offset of the 18-8.50-8 tires and rims stick out farther than the rear?  Right now I have 1.5" wheel spacers on the rear end to make both axles have the same tread width.  The rims that I am looking at are ones found on a golf cart as I can get them with almost new tires for $10 a piece although I'm considering upgrading to four or six ply ribbed tires later on and loading them for extra weight and traction.  My only concerns are the clearances between the rim/tire against the axle and the front end having a wider track than the rear; I'm not concerned about the diameter of the tires.  Any thoughts or tips are appreciated!

Yes, It will be wider. I've had mine mocked up with that combination (also a black hood with a swept axle) And they were 42"ish wide, they also won't clear the tie rod require a spacer.

I have 10.5" wide rear wheels made from blanks with 26-12x12's so I'm not sure how wide yours is in the back. Measuring out from frame rail it's just over 17" to the edge of tread on the front wheels.

Thor,

Thanks for the pictures! bds1984 asked a question I have wondered about.Like him I found 4 18x8.50 x16 inch golf cart tires and rims. For the price they are hard to beat.I like the idea of  larger tires for loader service in soft ground.Would you let us know the brand of ags on the rear. They look like Carlisles. Thanks again for you post.Your horse looks so good unpainted I would think about clear coating the bare metal.Kinda reminds me of the bare metal WW2 aircraft.JimAnderson

Check out my thread here on Redsquare. I did the conversion to bolt on rim front hubs.  Don't know about the spacing issue as for my application my rear distance was decided once I had the front set. It might give you an idea how to do it though. Scroll down towards the bottom of the page.

I did this on my 520 front. I created a pretty detailed write up. Maybe this will help you...

Now that we are finding more uses for the 1990 520H with a KwikWay loader I am experiencing some power loss in the hydro after about a half hour to 45 minutes??????
      Ideas?

Selling my trusty WH520H.  ~880 hours (currently used for moving snow when needed so hours may rise) very solid machine, strong and hardworking.  20HP Onan, hydro transmission and hydraulic lift.  Has Matt's foot-pedal conversion for forward/reverse.  Included in the sale is a tall-chute snow blower and 60" mowing deck.  The blower is in excellent condition and is on the tractor currently.  The mowing deck has been a workhorse over the years.  No holes but could use some TLC, probably needs new spindles at some point and could use a couple spots touched up with welder also does NOT have any pulley covers/protectors (see photo).  Tractor has been an incredible tool, very solid and dependable and I'm certainly going to miss her when she's gone.

Recent maintenance: replaced the plugs this summer, fluids as needed (hydro has about 100 hours on fluid/filter; oil was done in the spring and has about 25 hours on it).  Battery is about 3 years old as are the tires, Terra Trac tires on the rear and turfs on the front.  The seat (with arm rests) isn't in great shape.  I've got a cover for the seat, never used.  It's never really bothered me but new seat cover is included in sale as are 4 hub caps, chains for the rear tires, and some misc spare parts (see photos).

I've owed this machine about 8 year and put ~350 hours on her.  She's not a show piece but could be restored.  Sheet metal is generally in shape, no rust however the hood does have a couple dings in it.

I'm only selling because I'm trying to help my son get a small lawn care business started and looking to move to a zero-turn.  The 60" deck is too large for our trailer, the mowing deck lacks pulley safety shields, and we'd like something that mows faster.  My only complaint with this machine is the top-speed (which isn't great when comparing to today's machines) otherwise she's a beast.  They don't make them like this anymore.
