Paint or Clear Coat as is?

Recommended Posts

gawald

A lot of people choose to clear coat worn paint/rusty pick up trucks to preserve the patina of an old truck.  Has anyone cleaned and clear coated a well used Wheel Horse to preserve its patina?  My C141 has worn paint and surface rust on fenders and hood so I must decide whether to re-paint to like new condition or try to preserve the tractor as is.  Lots of folks who have seen my C141 like its worn look patina.  If anyone has clear coated worn paint/rust,  how has it held up long term?  Opinions please?  Re-paint or clear coat as is?

IMO , use a flat clear . You can always sand and paint later if you go that route.  :wwp:

Flat clear or just oil it and wipe if down.  Wd 40 or 30wt work fine.

I'd be more concerned with it rotting away in hidden places like the foot pans.
