50" Grader blade

Recommended Posts

MalMac

Got a friend mounting a 50" grader blade on a newer 520H. He's having trouble with it hitting the front tire's when angled. I have  never put a grader blade on a 520 before. All mine been in 300's or C series. Was there a different blade for the 520's. I can not see where there was. That does not mean there wasn't one I just never heard of one. I ask him first if he had the right rear Axel mount on said he did. So I am no  help to him.

He might have a blade from an XI series that look the same but are a bit longer.

I cut out the rear bar and drilled new holes centered 5" ahead of the original center.

The mid mount blade for a 520 is 50"

Mine clears the front tires without modification.

It is on a swept axle '94.

Don't know if the straight axle from '88-89 would make a difference

I am starting to think somehow when he purchased the blade it had to have the longer XI blade. He says everything is as it should be. So to me is the only exsplonation is to long a blade frame.

I currently have my blade on a 520 with the straight axle.

Pivots fine with no interference.

The blades are the same, it is the framework that is different on the two.  The XI is longer due to the longer wheel base.

is it a mid mount grader blade or a front mount dozer blade, the 520-H with the swept front axle requires a plow extension kit to clear the front tires, if it is the mid mount grader blade then it must be the wrong series blade for the tractor

Definitely the frame, blade length itself shouldn't matter. Blade pivots from the center. :twocents-02cents:
