Might try edge guard material at a boat or automotive upholstery repair supply online store.

It is known as "snap on or drive on windlace", I got some a few weeks ago from an :techie-ebay: seller, it was about $2.00 a foot and they have any color you could ask for.

It is a fact. Try wetting it before you paint. You get a look before you paint. I have primed and sanded my hood about 6 times and still need to do more work.

I use self etching on bare metal and rustoleum sandable. I know I find fewer imperfections each time I prime and sand.

When you are prepping the area for a final color coat be sure to wipe it down with some "Prep solvent" to remove any hand oil and other trash from the surface. this is an important thing to do.

it says my pictures are over 2.1 MB so i can't upload them,

a new question: how do you paint with a brush without brush marks i just think the tight areas would be easier and cleaner to brush it.

A very good  quality brush and Flood Penetrol added to oil based paint will smooth out the application of paint on metal.   My  C 121 was painted with a paint brush !  Not me but I have done some   Wheel Horse 1054  parts and hoods this way.

Here is a link to info on Flood Penetrol

If you have orange-peal then you will want to wet sand with 600 wet and dry then polish with rubbing compound followed by polishing compound. You are basically using finer and finer abrasives to achieve a smooth surface which will reflect light evenly, the polishing compound will take care of dull flat finishes if that is your only problem. If you have a power buffer be very careful with it, keep it moving and keep the pad damp with compound to prevent burning the paint.

You are not really supposed to sand off the paint, just flatten out the high spots.

Orange peal is a texture like that of an orange, basically it is like a bunch of drops of paint next to each other, sanding and polishing will flatten them out. Do a search on the internet for "Color Sanding" and you will find videos that may explain it better than I can.

You should not be using anything courser than 600 Wet or Dry and need to wet sand with a liberal amount of water for color sanding and only use it sparingly, most of your work should be wet sanding with 1200 followed by rubbing compound and polishing compound.

      Greetings!

I have a non-Wheel Horse tractor (Craftsman 14 HP Briggs OVH) , but the part appears to be common to the Briggs & Stratton Engine rather than a Craftsman part.  (See the photo -  The connector and pins I need are circled in blue)

I also have a 1977 Wheel Horse A-100 that needs a tail light lens & bulb.  (A complete tail light assy would be fine!)    Anyone got any idea what the Peterson part number is for the tail light for the model I have?

      Thanks!!

      Regards,  Pete

      Greetings everyone!

I'm a new member to this forum and a new Wheel Horse A-100 owner.  I'd been looking for an inexpensive fixer-upper riding lawnmower to make my yardwork a little easier for an aging fellow like myself.   Snagged this A-100 for $250 that's in really decent shape for the most part.  The mower deck has some problems however, but the actual tractor is in great shape.  Doesn't look as though it was used much, and still has all the original tags on the Briggs  & Stratton stickers on the housings.  Engine sounds fine but the needle isn't shutting the fuel off properly, so it runs rough until it's revved up a bit.   The pedals have scarcely any paint worn from them.   Quite remarkable for a '77!

So I have one of the blade shafts bound up, another that doesn't feel all that nifty.  I don't know if those bearings are sealed, or whether anyone might be able to clean 'em up and repack them for continued use.  Pulleys are in rough shape but I may be able to salvage them.    Any info on the bearings in the mower deck would be very helpful!   (Including recommended grease type, etc.)

Also it needs a key... The Ignition switch is an INDAK 103991 which appears to cross to a Toro.   New switches are available, but does anyone know if it's possible to just purchase a replacement key?

I'm guessing it takes typical non-detergent 30W oil...  It's a '77 model Briggs & Stratton 10 HP.  (Model 251707, code 77040412)  What fluid does the gearbox take?

      Thanks!!

      Regards,  Pete (Aka Rugerhound)
