elcamino/wheelhorse 9,029 #4 Posted February 14, 2016 One time they put small rockets in the back of a Mini Cooper and send it down a ski jump. They attached a Robin to a large rocket to see if would glide back to earth. It can down but there was not much left of it. One of the best car shows I have seen. The show features SUPER CARS, stuff that will run 200 + miles per hour and the adventures of the 3 monkeys

WNYPCRepair 1,875 #12 Posted February 14, 2016 I've seen those. They seem a bit more safe with the third wheel in back. I might actually buy one of those, if gas goes back up to $4/Gal
AMC RULES 36,944 #13 Posted February 14, 2016 When it goes back up... the old $4.00 price will be a bargain.

WNYPCRepair 1,875 #17 Posted February 14, 2016 When I was in the marines we used tugs to tow aircraft around. This was one type, but we rarely had these, the Navy kept them This was what we used to supply electrical power to the aircraft, the NC10. 110v, 400 cycles. It was just a self powered generator. Hydraulic drive motors. The tugs we used to tow aircraft were almost exactly like this. Made from 1/2" plate steel, Ford 302 with automatic, geared so low top speed was about 15 to 20 mph. Which was good, since there was no suspension. If you hit a bump at top speed, it would buck like a bronco. Our squadron deployed to 29 Palms. My brother in law was stationed there, he said he had to fill his tank just to be able to get to the next gas station to go anywhere off base, it was so far out in the desert. Our guys got bored, so they got the bright idea of finding a round rock about 12" in diameter, and playing soccer with the tugs. Luckily, I wasn't there, because I would definitely have been right there in the middle. An officer came around behind the hanger to see what all the noise was. They all got written up, and all off duty time was spent painting all the equipment yellow again.

elcamino/wheelhorse 9,029 #21 Posted February 18, 2016 We would still have the 3 Monkeys in Cars if Mr Clarkson ( the guy pulling the White Car apart ) had not hit a producer with his fist after a long day of filming. Clarkson's favorite tool was a hammer.

Ken B 3,116 #23 Posted February 18, 2016 (edited) Why would they build it with a single wheel in front with speeds capable past 15 mph? The single wheel obviously allows you to turn it around in a bath tub but it's also the quite obvious cause of the roll overs.... Thanks for posting, made me laugh! It is the tax laws in Britain and operator licensing. They can be licensed as motorcycles and operated by more people with the easier to qualify for motorcycle license. Many were sold in the delivery van version to save operating costs. Also, remember the Scammell Scarab? Same rule applied. It is very similar to our current non-CDL qualification to operate a small truck.
