I'm thinking about buying this 800 special but not sure if what iv'e read  about them having a Briggs engine and peerless transmission if I should stay away from them or not. Can you guys give me your honest thoughts about this model. Thanks.

What are your plans for it? Just putting around and maybe do a bit of mowing? Then its worth looking into in my opinion. But if your thinking of working it hard I would stay away.

Then I would keep looking for a "C" series or a 300-400 series machine. I think that the 800 special uses a different plow setup since you cant attach the plow frame to that Peerless aluminum tranny.

Maybe i'll find something at the wheelhorse show in June at Arendtsville if they sell any tractors there.I've never been but I'm really pumped about going!

There will be plenty of tractors for sale at the show.

Many of the sales are prearranged on here in the classified section with delivery made at the show.

My first tractor was an 800-SPECIAL,  I blew up the 8 & swapped in a 16 horse Kohler. It bolted right up, all I had to do was add a rectifier. Tractor was unstoppable, you would not believe what I would grade with that tractor. Did not have detachable mule drive so your kind of limited unless you fab up something for front attachments.
