Kooks like you got a NEW tractor :text-welcomeconfetti: AT least I know where Altoona  is located in PA. I keep a PA map on hand to see what part of the state members live. We have family in Bedford County

Really nice 520 you have.  How many hours on it.    Do you have any history on it ?

:text-welcomeconfetti: to :rs:    BTW, I also have ties to Somerset Co.  Born in Kennells Mills, high school in Meyersdale.

Their is 666 hours on it. Don't know much about it but it's clean so I have to say it was taken care of. Maybe I should be a little scared of it, not because of how many hours but because of the numbers 666....

I was just over in Meyersdale a few months ago for a car show.

I wouldn't be a bit concerned with 666 hours.  It does look like it was maintained very well, but without knowing the history, you may want to check to be sure the cooling fins on the rear cylinder are clean. They tend to clog up with grass due to the belt guard blocking he air flow .   When this happens, the cylinder overheats and the valve seat fails.

With the oil filter removed, you can probably see the fins with a mechanics mirror  or bore scope.

If they are dirty, you should remove the tins to do a proper cleaning.  A lot of the 520 owners then add openings in the belt guard to improve the air flow.

Not trying to scare you.....you have a great tractor.    Just pointing out a common problem that is easy to prevent.

One of my sisters has a farm in Sand Patch...3 mile from Meyersdale.  And another one has a farm in Bedford Co. near Chaneysville.

One of my first upgrades, just 'cause it makes tire changes easy. Lug nuts.

Thanks for the welcomes and advice. I was told this was a great group to belong to. I have seen some pictures of 520's with either holes or slots in the belt guard and was wondering if it worked to keep some heat out. I plan on going over the tractor before summer. So far with all the more I have ran her the throttle slowly creeps down from high rpm's. Other then that I haven't noticed anything wrong. But then again I haven't really dug into her yet. The previous owner just changed all the fluids, air filter, fuel filter and blades on the deck.

Great way to start your future collection!!  Welcome to the fun, and a touch of madness!!!  Matt's hydro pedal kit is something you might want to look at in the future.

I second Matt's kit (I have 3 of them).

Throttle can be tightened easily by just crimping the main center rivet a little tighter.

:text-welcomeconfetti:That's one sweet looking tractor. Are you sure it didn't just come out of the crate?  Oh yes I see the grass stains on the deck wheels now.  B)
