tech270154 8 #1 Posted January 12, 2016 i have a D180 with an engine K482 ,as you know it is not young anymore but it is working perfectly . the big question is how high can we rev. the engine safely, without not having to worry . if we pass a piston through the block or passing some valves through the head or breaking the crankshaft ect. !!!!!! according to some mechanics and automotive technicians ,the engine is made to work at its maximum this is 3600 rpm. it says to avoid having problems with the hydrostatic system , the engine needs its max rpm . so what is the middle ??? and safely control??? need technical suggestions thanks
bds1984 1,377 #2 Posted January 13, 2016 I know 3600 is generally the maximum for most engines. I do recall seeing that one of the larger Kohler twins is governed to 3200 or 3400 RPM so I think you're fine at 3600 RPM as long as your governor is working properly.
