I have inherited a GT1100, pretty much rusted, but can be redone, 1st question, where is the serial # on this, serial # is on engine, which is a B&S, but would like to know exactly what I have?

well to find the serial number there should be a little plate on the console or in that area and the engine look round he engine and there should be some numbers. here is some info

http://www.tractordata.com/lawn-tractors/001/3/3/1337-wheel-horse-gt-1100.html

this is a great place to get any info  red square has the answers for like everything.

:WRS: neighbor!
Identification information would have been on a decal found on the side of the hoodstand below the PTO engagement lever.

The numbers fade over time to the point of disappearing in some cases.

The Pewter WorkHorse series was only available in 1982, 83, & 84 and the product numbers ending in "00" denote 1984. Numbers ended in the mower deck size in 1982 & 1983 because the mower was included with the tractor purchase.
