B80 Tranny Issue

First thing I did today was get my cofffee and get on Redsquare to read new posts... Sickness as we all have! Happy Thanksgiving to all!! I have a question... I picked up a complete untouched 1974 B80 and got it running with a carb cleaning etc. etc. It will not stay in 3rd gear (jumps out and hard to put in) unless I put it in and hold the shifter hard then it will stay for a few seconds. Is this a major issue like a gear problem or is it an easy fix like a shift fork? I am not real familiar with the rear end/trannys on these. It does NOT have high and low, just 1-3 and reverse. Last question, will a rear out of a 310 - 8 fit in this? Thanks to all and be safe today. Steve Bo-

The tranny out of the 310 will fit but you'll need a new shifter plate with the hole for the hi/low lever.
