slammer302 2,154 #1 Posted October 1, 2015 I met Bowtieguy/Frank today in Springfield and he brought me this C-175 auto its in pretty good shape no knocks or smoke i know the series 1 kt17 can be a time bomb but this one seems good it ran kinda ruff at first but it ended up being pretty much out of gas after that it ran good the steering is stiff but the trans is very strong and the deck works well and i added a metal seat pan i think i might see if my brother wants it so i can get my 314H back.

JackC 616 #3 Posted October 2, 2015 (edited) " i know the series 1 kt17 can be a time bomb". Only if you use it on steep inclines or let it run out of oil. Otherwise they are as rock solid as any of the others.CAUTION: Do not operate enginecontinuously at an angle exceeding20° in any direction, or for more than 5minute intervals at angles up to 30° inany direction-as engine damage mayresult from lack of sufficient lubrication. The C-175 is a beast. That one is a beauty and would get a stall in my barn. Edited October 2, 2015 by JackC

slammer302 2,154 #17 Posted October 4, 2015 I've been fighting with the C-175 today it lost spark after looking at the points and reading the kohler manual i have "Build-Up" on the movable contact witch indicates Insufficient Capacitance so i think i need a new coil or condenser. But i did finally get it running and it ran better than it did when i got it with sum new points but i'm afraid its going to ruin this set of points if i don't get the problem fixed. Brian01 481 #18 Posted October 4, 2015 That's the "bad" on points, hard to get adjusted just right sometimes and crudd up n stick.
slammer302 2,154 #19 Posted October 4, 2015 Frank is sending me a coil, condenser, points from another one he has with a broken rod
Brian01 481 #20 Posted October 4, 2015 That's cool...Frank is a awesome guy, that's for sure!
pfrederi 17,028 #21 Posted October 4, 2015 The condensor is usually the cause of pitted points..meaning a hole on one contact and a build up on the other. To much or too little capacitance determines which contact has the build up and which the pit...but don't ask me which is which
slammer302 2,154 #22 Posted October 4, 2015 I was just looking though a model list and seen they made a C-175 8 speed a few years but i can't say i've ever seen one
slammer302 2,154 #23 Posted October 7, 2015 I've been really loving the C-175 even though it has the sunstrand trans and the kt17 it pulls hard and operates as it should only problem I had was the points issue Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
