It's been a little here and there. Work has been foot to the floor for over a month with no end in sight!

I took a video when the exhaust was first done. You can really hear that belt guard rattle. I'll take another tonight weather permitting band post both. :)

What kind of baffle did you weld in the exhaust? I am always looking for ways to make the workers quieter.

Brandon, Bill cut the stack and had some stainless metal. Drilled some holes into it, cut it the dia. of the pipe and welded it in.

Thing's a tank. Seat being on the springs raises you up a bit. Really looking forward to cruisin the steam show and not worrying how dirty if's getting.

One last job before Skonk is a taxi at the Steam Pageant. Hauling the shredder out to the garden to chop up a couple bales of straw.grille_001.thumb.JPG.3ca05c1859a77ee8a7a

Going to revive an old thread here. Mike how did you go about lenghtening the shaft to get hood/steering Wheel clearance? I like the looks of your setup and have the same problem with the hood and wheel on my 1277

I had another steering shaft kicking around. So I cut 3" out of the center and added it to the original shaft. I got some chrome spacers from Lowes to dress up the exposed area.

Steering shafts are just 3/4" cold rolled round stock, pick it up at any metal supply outlet. Drilling the holes for the roll pins can be made easier if you make a drilling jig for the drill press.

Take three pieces of angle iron, two with the "V" facing down and one with the "V" facing up; clamp them together and weld the two face down pieces to a plate of steel. Un-clamp and remove the up facing piece. Put the jig on your drill press and move the drill bit down to center it in the "V" created by the two angle iron pieces, clamp the jig to the drill press table; any round stock you put in that "V" will be centered!
