Andrew D. 23 #1 Posted July 2, 2015 (edited) I just bought myself a 16th birthday present and it isn't a truck its an rj35, I have been looking for one and asking around shows for awhile now and am very exited to have found one In this good of shape but I am not that familiar with the rj's yet, what do I have? from what I have learned so far its a late '55 to early '56 and is mostly complete except for a belt guard, cast steering wheel, reverse pulley and air cleaner. it came with the on/off switch and throttle cable, I cant wait to start up on getting this going! Jake Kuhn 1,547 #10 Posted July 3, 2015 Nice find! And I've also been told the stamped frames were built in late 55 and early 56. How about a picture of the rear hitch? Pm me and I know a guy who can get most of the parts you need reproduction. And lives here in Michigan as well.
VinsRJ 721 #11 Posted July 6, 2015 (edited) Nice tractor... with a sheet metal frame I would say its a 56... and that looks to be a 56 rear hitch. Edited July 6, 2015 by VinsRJ
rj35hunter 281 #12 Posted July 29, 2015 If you will post the model and serial numbers of the Clinton engine I will compare it to my 35's and my collected lists to give you a better idea....thanks
WHX?? 46,675 #13 Posted July 29, 2015 Also post a picture of the where the air cleaner attaches, If it's what I think it is the same cleaner as this. They were also used on Tecumseh. I can put you in touch with a guy that has them for 7 bucks and other resonable Clinton parts as well.
DennisThornton 4,769 #14 Posted July 29, 2015 Nice tractor... with a sheet metal frame I would say its a 56... and that looks to be a 56 rear hitch. My understanding is the 58s-59s had a welded angle iron frame but I thought all the other RJs had a sheet metal frame. And I have no idea what would distinguish the slot hitch. But I'm taking pictures and notes! Thanks!Dennis Thornton Nice tractor and you take GREAT pictures! Not just one, not just this side and that side but several!57 or older but, wait a minute and I'll check my notes:This not my info but believed to be correct:1955-57 RJ23/35: Frame made of a steel channel either fabricated fromsheet metal or structural channel. Belt driven and the gear case on therear has Pond cast in it. The RJ25 had a Briggs model 8 and the RJ35had a Clinton or a Kohler K90.Well, I think we pretty much knew that. So still, what year is it!Keep it up! And give your Grandpa a hug!
