Points gap

Hello everyone, Not sure if this has been covered before but my question is, to advance the timing do you decrease the gap or increase it?:eusa-think:

maynard is correct.
an example may help you.
j.D 318 B43G engine .016 point gap equals 16 degrees BTDC.
case 446  B43M engine .021 point gap equals 21 degrees BTDC
thank you. boomer. ( the used onan engine parts guy, also NOS and new )
