RickJ 2 #1 Posted May 31, 2015 I'm trying to find a tachometer for my 310-8 (after-market) but I'm not having much luck. There are some "made in China" tach/hour meter combos on Ebay, but the reviews on the items are terrible . I'd even take a hand held model; I don't think my 10hp Kohler is running fast enough at full power and would like to measure the max rpm.
PaulC 341 #2 Posted June 2, 2015 http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001N4QY66/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1433278136&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40&keywords=tachometer&dpPl=1&dpID=41qKn2R6dbL&ref=plSrchhere is a handheld tach that I bought. Comes with the reflective tape and u just cut a small piece and put it on anything that rotates and point the gun at it pull the trigger and it tells u the rpms it's a neat little tool. I put a piece on the flywheel screens on both my kohler magnums and got the idle and full speed rpms dialed in nicely.
WHX?? 46,734 #3 Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_524744_524744I have one of these, works well & can put alligator clips on it if you just want to check different engines. Some models connect to the points or coil. Handy also for keeping track of hours between oil changes if permantly mounted. I'm thinkin I only payed about 20 clams tho. RickJ 2 #4 Posted June 2, 2015 Thank you very much! Northern Tool is one of the few that I didn't check! I appreciate your help with this!
RickJ 2 #5 Posted June 2, 2015 PaulC - Thanks! Thats a pretty attractive tool also! I like the idea of being able to check RPM without having to clip or route wires ... the reflective tape would be handy for going from one tractor to the next. I appreciate your input ... a good option!
shallowwatersailor 3,213 #6 Posted June 2, 2015 I've used both the ENM and Design Technology Tiny Tach on engines with good results. http://www.enmco.com/http://www.tinytach.com/
