Recommended Posts

Hi all,
picked up my transaxle for project agri-800 today, really good condition. its the 2 piece case type with three speeds and 1" axles. the sticker with that pat number on it has rubbed away and all I can make out is "**8*185" does anyone know the missing numbers marked by the asterisk so i can find a PDF and other info?
thank you very much,
callum

The patent number is the same for all Uni-Drives ( 2988185 ) and does nothing to assist in identification.
The most current service manual covers most models. Are you able to post pictures of the tranz here?

I think that patent number is on most all of the uni-drives. The only way to narrow it down is by the size and location of the brake drum shaft. Download the uni-drive service manual and compare images of the parts diagrams to what you have.

From the pic you showed the other day, yours is the early type 5053 from a commando, with raised drum. Later ones are mounted on the next shaft lower down and spin faster.
