Manure spreader?

Recommended Posts

I know garden tractor manure spreaders exist (non pto driven) but they are really pricey. Any alternative to consider? I thought about a seed spreader but they don't seem robust enough.

Thoughts?

Thanks

No way on a seed spreader.  What kind of manure are you dealing with?  Is the bedding sand, sawdust, straw???

This might work for you. It's old but still spreads it around. :laughing-rofl:

Horse poo....i wanted to ride around and have it fall out of the trailer. Or be dispersed.

Maybe I need a few horses to walk around the garden when they feel the urge.

how about buy a cheap, possibly old seed spreader and modify it?

the spinning disc on seed spreaders spin quite fast in relation to the wheels, so reduce this gearing some how, if you have the facilities make a metal disc (an old air cooled engine flywheel maybe). add some weight to make sure the wheels don't lock up. might be a fun project never know.

hope this helps some what,

Callum

how much land do you need to fertilize?  shovels do wonders for cheap...  maybe get a couple kids to ride around in the wagon while you drive to speed things up!  :)

I thought about using my chipper. Just tow it behind a wagon load of manure.

Then bribe the Wifey to ride the wagon and shovel it in the chipper.   :hide:

It's about 2400 Sq ft as a guess. Maybe bigger. They make the kind that a set of teeth rotate as the wheels engage. I guess just have decided to build something for next season. No time now.

Thanks for all the replies.
