Engine Upgrade C-175 Auto

Recommended Posts

Cool! Can we get a start up and running video?

That thing looks loud with the pepper pots on there!

When I change the break in oil I will put some running videos up. Edited by GT14

Very nice! Are you still intending on using an electric PTO?

That turned out nice! With the OHV it will probably burn less fuel also. You might consider a magnetic drain plug seeing as the engine is new. I have used both Dimple ($$) and Gold Plug ($) on my tractors and vehicles.

Oh I bet HF sells a few of those engines now. That is a great job and excellent post. Thanks for sharing this. 22 horses at a third of the cost. Lets hope it runs for a long time to come!

Well you sure can't beat the price for 22 hp Honda Clone, I am looking forward to finishing break-in and running full throttle.

I am watching this for sure. If an Onan gives up in one of my 520's I might replace it with an engine like this or a diesel.

Thanks for the writeup and video's

Thanks, its one of those things where you get to a tipping point and then its why not go for it. Have about 10 hours on the engines and it purrs like a kitten.

The HF engine is still running strong, pulling many trailer loads of stone and leveling with blade.
I know the trailer needs some love but that's for another day.

I have the clutch USHorse but have yet to use it. Did not hook up a mower deck and put my blower on another tractor. Maybe I will play around with it soon.

Awesome job!

My question is, what does the predator have for a charging system?

Pretty standard, has keep the battery charged. Not sure of the output. Have not run lights or acc. to any extent yet.

#153 is the coil hookup for the 3 pickups.56925d95983aa_Predatorchargingsystem.png

Had the C-225 our for some plowing, started right up at 10 deg. F and ran smooth. Wanted to plow without chains and the new tires worked great. That's 200# of weight on the back.

I have one of these going into a D series.  Good to know that you're having good results with it.  How do you like the exhaust with the two pepper pot mufflers?  It's a sticking point on how to proceed with my swap at the moment.

The exhaust is fine, not to loud for me anyway. I made adapters from 1/4 inch plate and welded 1 inch pipe on for the pots.

I still may try making a manifold for the muffler that came with the engine.
