Snow Cab

I have a chance to buy a little used snow cab that was on a "Classic " series tractor for a good price.The guy will even deliver it. My question is this, I want to put it on a 76 C-160. Does any one know if it will fit or what mods need to be done?  :confusion-confused:

Without knowing what vintage the cab is, it's hard to say what or if any mods need to be made. Going on the assumption that the cab is of the same year of the classic it should fit. The only area of concern would where the hood goes through the front panel. If I remember right there is a small highth and width difference. Nothing big that can't be overcome. Just a small gap I think. All the framing should bolt up just fine.

I downloaded the 77 cab manual and the 300-500 series cab manuals. Looks like the hood stand brackets will need to be changed along with the rear bracket. I have a friend who is a good fabricator. I think I'm going to get it and if it's too much trouble to make it fit I could always re-sell it and keep looking for the right cab

The rear brackets I think will fit, my newer cab bolts to the fender bolts and are the same set up on the 77, the hood stand is wider on the 300 series so yes you will have to make that area fit, I think the foot rest on the newer classics are different also so that may need to be adjusted, but cabs cheap are hard to find

Mike,

         Bring it to the show and we can do some sort of "Survivor" stunt where you have to drive around in it in the hot June sun.

it would make you wish for snow! :D

Great idea! I'll lose a bunch of weight and have Steve take a picture of me standing sideways. I'll be " The Invisible Squonk standing at the Bus Stop "!

Guy is delivering the cab on Thursday. He took it all apart when he stored it away 6 yrs. ago. Every thing was cleaned, Frame painted, vinyl was treated, all new nuts and bolts and stored in a bag. He said it doesn't say Wheel Horse on it. But it's red and white and was made to fit the 300-500 series tractors

Another shed is planned but Dawn's garden equipment's going in there. I'm going to gain enough room to store the cab. :)

Yep, it's the lastest model offered for the 300, 400 series. Should fit but there is going to be some hole drilling. Rear brackets on the fender pan, because those brackets were designed for the gas tank under the pan. Maybe the foot boards to. Can't remember if the 74's have the same foot boards as the later ones. Anyway should be very little mods to be done.

2 tillers including one with a 2 cycle Tecky!  :) plus a green house that will need to be torn down and stored away in the winter. Might be able to store the cab in there during the summer.

Storing a cab is probably one of the most frustrating items to store that I have come across. I use to take it off with it all still assembled and hoist it up in the top of the barn. Problem with that is if you have a tractor you don't want to scratch, you need a couple of pepole to help get it off. I then would partial disassemble it. That turned into a PIA. Now I just have snow removal tractors and leave the cabs on. If that tractor would have to used in the summer months I just take the doors off. Cabs are great but can be a big pain to deal with. I am a dealer for these cabs and thier even a pain when they get shipped to me.

The tractor it's going on is also my summer mowing machine. I have some big pine and cedar trees to mow around so leaving even just the frame on isn't going to work. And I need a hydro to mow around the obstacles that I have and also need the hyd lift for the blower. I would agree that a dedicated "cab tractor" is the way to go but that means a "Show tractor" would have to go and I have considered that option. Yes I could fill up the garage with tractors and park the truck outside but a frozen vehicle in the winter and having so much stuff you have to move eight things to get at one drives me nuts!  :)

I could not agree more. Because of that same reason. I moved something's out under a tarp this year. So cars could be garaged like they should be.

Cab was delivered today. Looks pretty nice. An interesting summer project getting this varmint fitted to the C-160 to say the least!  :)

That was taken after a recent snow with the "light ,fluffy stuff" and a wind. I did get the cab to fit without any alterations but It would be better if I could get the rear panel "bumped out" to give more room. The adjustable seat is moved forward and I'm up against the wheel more than I'd like. I am going to make a mounting that goes under the seat like factory. The present mounting uses 2 tabs that bolt to holes in the rear of the fender pan and I don' t want to drill those.
