MAH 50 #1 Posted March 2, 2015 What could possibly make quicker work plowing snow with a horse?.... Plowing with two . That's my fathers 520-HC in the back and my 518H. We have a few inches here in Pa,and my old Hahn blower is working better for what I have to do at my house. So the 518 went back to my parents to make room and this is what transpired.
ericj 1,576 #2 Posted March 2, 2015 didn't take any pictures but i came in about 9:30 pm after blowing about 1" of snow and ice before it froze solid. the 2 stage blower worked GREAT. it had frozen just enough to give it some solidness and was able to throw it up to 50 foot or more at time and even were it had standing water under it i still threw it clear of the blower and never clogged. off to bed have to get up at 3:15 am to go to work and plow eric j
MAH 50 #3 Posted March 2, 2015 We had about 2.5-3 here in upper Lancaster before it turned. I hear we're getting some more freezing rain tonight so I'm holding off till tomorrow morning to take off what's there. Easier to remove ice with snow under it. boovuc 1,090 #4 Posted March 2, 2015 Three to four so far between State College and Williamsport, PA Finished blowing my driveway and a few others off at 9:30 tonight. No ice or sleet this far north on this storm! I could run my blower in 2nd gear-hi range on this stuff! Didn't take long at all.
Tankman 3,514 #5 Posted March 2, 2015 3" here, just south of Allentown yesterday, plowed. This morning, ice. Solid ice but forecast is for 36 degrees. Spring is here!
953 nut 51,014 #6 Posted March 3, 2015 Neat looking weight box on the back of the 518. When you have a moment please take a few shots of it and give us a little information on how it is built. I need something a little better than concrete blocks hanging off the rear end! Thanks
MAH 50 #7 Posted March 3, 2015 Actually we just got the tractor before the winter. The weight box is just some 3/4" plywood that I threw in about 5 minuets filled it with sand and ratchet strapped it over the rear hitch and axle area. I can take pictures next time I get over there. I still doesn't add enough weight. I hope to get wheel weights or make something better for the front and rear. The 518 is in OK shape. We bought a 518 with a disintegrated connecting rod but the chassis is in great shape. We were going to rebuild the motor but we found this tractor with a low hour (less than 500) good running engine and a great price. When the weather breaks I plan to swap this motor to the good chassis.

Looks like we both need to do some fabrication!
