repower of a80

Hi All,

First time post and first time wheel horse owner. I just acquired wheel horse a80. It still has the 8hp tec.(which isn't running and missing parts). I came across a briggs 10hp out of a simplicity 4210. I wondering if this would drop in now problem or would I need to get a adapter plate? any help or insight would be great. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

I doubt you will find anyone that knows if this will bolt in unless they have done it. Back in the day many of the bolt patterns were identical because each engine manufacturer was competing for the same market. Another concern would be the diameter and length of the crankshaft so you could swap the drive pulleys.

Let us know what you come up with.

I would measure the length and diameter of the crankshaht on both, if the same a very good chance the conversion would work. The bolt pattern on both are most likely the same. May be some

minor wirung differences. Nothing major.
