Hammerhead 816 #1 Posted January 26, 2015 Well here in central Ohio we only got a mere 5 inches of the white stuff! Bummer for my snow plow rig, a 1974 A90 Special! I fired it up anyways and let it fly. The county snow plow didn't even bother to go down my road so I did part of my road and my one neighbor did part of the road too with his new fangled Cub Cadet tractor. Then I did my driveway and my neighbor ladies driveway too just for fun. It took about 2 hours to do all of this. This is the first time I got to use my snow plow this winter! So far we haven't got much snow this year, not like most of you guys are getting!

Hammerhead 816 #3 Posted January 27, 2015 Holy crap... looks like you did all the way to the next state. Dang near did Craig! It felt like it too, I got pretty cold by the time I was done! All in a days work or play! I went in the house and fired up my trusty keroseen heater and made some potato soup to warm up my bones! Ahh very tasty!

Tankman 3,515 #6 Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) That's 'bout what we got, five inches of the white junqué! Since we picked up the Work Horse late summer/fall haven't tried a plow job other than push a little gravel. The Work Horse didn't have any problem. Our first Briggs '83 Horse, we like Kohler! Somewhat pleased we added the Dial-A-Height too! The Onan 520-8 took a breather while son pushed the snow. Edited January 27, 2015 by Tankman
AMC RULES 36,945 #7 Posted January 27, 2015 Got...maybe 6" of the slick, dry, powdery stuff here overnight... definitely was a far cry from the Armageddon forecasters were predicting(not complaining)... did the drive and side with the blower, early this morning...wasn't pretty, but did make it happen though. Just connected the dots to the shed out back, chose my plow this time, and went much better.

Whmaverick 54 #14 Posted January 28, 2015 Hey Craig, that's a nice looking "big horse" you got there. I have two series-1 horses, a twin eight and a twin auto, I'm not afraid of them and I work em hard here in SW Pa. Where there's hardly a flat spot around. I think my secret to success with them is I keep them at full throttle all the time, except when starting or stopping the engine of course. I enjoyed the videos guys.
AMC RULES 36,945 #15 Posted January 28, 2015 Two quick vids showing what a PITA blowing this powder snow was.
Ken B 3,116 #16 Posted January 28, 2015 Your 520 sounds pretty healthy! I bet that back in the day before you were into Wheel Horse you didn't have to clear that road out in the grass leading up to the magic shed now did you? I clear out a nice big path in my yard just to get my trailer out "just in case" its needed!
AMC RULES 36,945 #17 Posted January 28, 2015 (edited) The single lane drive is why I clear that spot Ken... usually put my truck up there, on the grass so Mrs Rules can get out. At some point, I plan to excavate that little embankment... and plant all the flat rock you see piled up there to make me a parking spot. I imagine myself as being too cheap to purchase more black top. Edited January 28, 2015 by AMC RULES
stratostar250 919 #18 Posted January 28, 2015 We only got about 5 or 6 inches also. But it was fun to get to use the snowblower! Cold, but fun!

doc724 924 #23 Posted January 28, 2015 Well, here is southeastern MA, we received between 18-24 inches of the fluffy stuff. Hard to get an accurate total with all the wind and drifting. I took out the 520xi with a single stage blower two times to clear it out. That thing can really move the snow. I tried Sno-jet for the first time on the auger and chute. With all the wind and the blizzard created by the blower, it was hard to tell if snow jet made any difference. However, after the "dust" had settled, I could see evidence of disturbed snow at least 40 feet down range.
Theroundhousernr 589 #24 Posted January 28, 2015 Great video. However, I would think twice about aiming at the camera man or the house windows. Mistake you will only make once if something should happen. That little guy sure is doing the job!
stratostar250 919 #25 Posted January 28, 2015 Tractor works great Tom... bet you're glad you put those chains on now. It did! And I really was glad, they helped out a few times for sure! Great video. However, I would think twice about aiming at the camera man or the house windows. Mistake you will only make once if something should happen. That little guy sure is doing the job! I was trying to be careful, I didn't aim directly at the camera man, I aimed aside, but the wind took all the light snow and made it look as if I was pointing at him. But yes, the house window was a complete accident, as you can see me quickly re-aim it after I started blowing the snow. Glad nothing did happen! Haha
