jeremi3210 685 #1 Posted December 20, 2014 Anyone know if a old k241 from a 63 953 takes a different fuel pump from the newer engines? I am trying to get the original engine running but the fuel pump was missing, the one I got don't want to go in all the way and if you look thru the hole the cam looks different. octfst 378 #2 Posted December 20, 2014 Not sure what fuel pump you have. But should fit if for a 10, 12, 14, & 16HP K-series or Magnum Kohler engine.
520HC 207 #3 Posted December 20, 2014 Your old 953 does take a different pump than newer engines. I would have to check part numbers to tell you what it takes.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,444 #4 Posted December 20, 2014 This parts list should be correct for the Kohler in the 953 Garry
jeremi3210 685 #5 Posted December 20, 2014 Thanks for all the replies. Good news I was digging thru my box of spare parts and found a fuel pump with a 90° bent lever put it in a it works.
953 nut 51,025 #6 Posted December 21, 2014 You are lucky to find the original, The big plus is the primer lever on the pump. Unfortunately they stopped using that type in '66, I have changed my GT-14 and 312-8 over to the older (but better) pump so they start right up after sitting for a while. Please post a couple of photos when you get a chance.
