522xi Snowblower - trouble attaching it - worked last year

Recommended Posts

buckhornbob

I feel like I am going crazy here.  With the help of folks on this board, I got my "new-to-me" 522xi operational last winter with a 44" snowblower.  It worked beautifully.

This year I removed my loader (just like last year) and I am now trying to mount the snowblower.  My current challenge is the mounting of the rear support rods from the rear Attach-O-Matic.  Last year, no problem.  This year the rods are "binding" on the rear axle brakets from the front end loader on both sides.

The attached picture shows the area of concern.  I suppose removing the FEL mount is doable, but I did not do that last year.

I have just spent the best part of this day trying to figure out what is different from last year with no success.

My frustration level is rising so I am really hoping someone can point out the error of my ways and send me in the right direction.

Thanks for any ideas.  The snow is here in Buckhorn

That piece of flat bar between the left and right side is bent up and in the illustrations it is straight. Would that do it?

Adding - it looks like it should go in the front notches and I'm guessing you have them in the rear.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Your comment was a "eureka" moment for me.  I knew there was something I was missing and your more experienced eyes caught my stupidity.

I guess I was just lucky last year and put it in the front notches without realizing there was another option (the wrong one it turns out)

Back at it bright and early tomorow.

I don't have a 44 in blower, but I do have plow.  I also have a loader and when I installed it, I removed the rear quick hitch.  No good reason, since the Kwik Way manual said you could leave it on.  I was tempted to put it back late in the summer but thought the better of it.  My reason was that maybe it could get trashed when riding the tractor over the uneven ground.  I guess my decision was a good one as Bob has since proven.  Bob, have fun in the snow.  P.S.  I will not be disappointed if you keep it (the snow) all there for at least another 6 weeks!

Toro - WheelHorse SnowBlower fits “XT” Models.  Model 79483 Serial 240000164. In great shape, has high chute, wide kit installed and has belt.  Skids show little to no wear, so I’m guessing not used much.  SnowBlower only.  No mule drive or lifting hardware.
      $250/BRO

Lets make a deal. The whole collection for $3000 or one tractor and half the items listed below for $1500.
I am moving to town so am willing to do a partial trade for a wheelhorse more approproiate for a suburban lot- lawn ranger, surburban models, bcs walking tractor, other?
I could possibly deliver or meet half-way or ship.

Both tractors run great and are in good working order. Second owner of both machines. I work with these machines everyday so they are not perfect but are, in my opinion, in excellent shape.
      42in high-shoot snow blower
      42 in rear discharge deck
      Snow blade

      Various body pieces
7.5 cubic ft pull behind cart - may need tires
      Extra set of rims
All required belts, pullys, brackets, manuals, too much to list.

Hello, I recently purchased a single stage snowblower attachment for my C-121.  Currently going through my first storm with it.   Made some passes down the driveway and blower was blowing a bit of snow backwards under the tractor.   Snow is very fine and light snow.   Wondering if anyone else has experienced this or has suggestions on remidies.
