I did these using an App called colour splash. One of the oldest on my phone, most only last a few months and I delete them.

So whats this mean??? Now we have to take other pictures in a scenery or artistic setting? Your going from one thing to another scenario that doesn't make much sense at least Not to me. I pretty much think it was that way in the beginning because most people have them setting in some sort of picture that looks good whether it be in the snow playing, raking leafs, planting gardens or what ever else they want a picture of. I'm not going to venture across the country side looking for a place to put my tractor or tractors to snap a photo. Not everyone lives in a country setting to where they have that availability to just go out in the North forty to snap pictures. My whole lot is only 285 deep 65' wide with houses all around so getting a artistic picture is out for me. Sorry

You need to eat one of my brownies John.  :ychain:   I think Jason is looking for those special pictures, like the 1st one he posted.  There is a difference between this thread and the usual calendar threads.  I have a lot of great people shots that could be considered truly artistic (like catching some of the members at shows that aren't posed)...or maybe he is looking for doctored shots like Craig posted above.  I think Jason needs to come back in here and qualify what he is really looking for...this thread is heading for the calendar shot variety, and I do not think that is what he was looking for.  Maybe one like this...

Yeah, pretty much just an interesting picture. Think of it this way... not just a picture of a tractor that anyone walks into their driveway and takes with their phone, but something you might frame and exhibit at an art show. (you know... county fair community building style!)  Maybe just a nice picture of a scene with a tractor as a part of it (like I did) or photoshop some pop art like Craig posted above, or use a photo converter to look like a sketch like nhunt did, or art deco like these from Craig that are elsewhere on the forum....

Or like this one from John in the calendar thread... see John, you're an artist and didnt' even know it.  (and yes, I know you were trying to just highlight the laser engraved lug bolts... but it's the perspective of the picture... I think it has character, and I'd call it artistic.)

post-45-0-30466400-1415709431.jpg

Even just changing something to black and white can totally change the perspective... like Steve's pciture here... if you didn't know better you could easily believe that picture to be 50 years old when that car was new, hauling home a few tractors from a local country auction.

I just know from these few examples... as well as many others I've seen through here over the years that there are some clever photographers in our midst, and thought it might be neat to try to get a perpetual thread going with a lot of the cool **** all in one place.  Artistic can mean different things to different people....  just have fun with it... that's the point.

I agree some altered pictures can spoil a good picture, but its fun having a go also.

John, the thing about people shots and it is not posed can be the stuff that books on coffee tables are made of.  I put those in there to show what I think Jason is looking for and I picked those because you were in there.  BTW...it is Jon Bell you are talking with in the 1st pic...the 2nd pic is you and Scott (Smoreau).  :)  I like to take a lot of people pictures, and they are all in the show threads....but like Jason says...if I made them Black & White...or Sepia, they would look like they were taken back in the day.  Actually, I think the people shots are the most important, and catching people not posed at shows, is going to give this thread a certain look back in time with some of the members that have made this site what it is (showing the history of RS).  Check this out...here is Ken B with his hat on in 2013...he did not wear his hat on Thursday in 2014...and no one recognized him.  While this is a posed picture...it is a great shot of Ken.  :)
