Coulter Disc for Furrowing Plow

Recommended Posts

Ok...

I'm no expert on plows but I'm starting to understand the different uses for them, however I have a furrowing plow that has the front mounted coulter disc for cutting sod.

The problem is I am missing the steel rod that mounts to the disc and the plow to hold the wheel in place.

I'm going to fab a new steel rod for the wheel to slide onto.

I realize you can set the depth for the disc to run... at the top where it mounts to the the plow itself with the rod and the clamp on the plow.

BUT...Is the wheel suppose to move freely around and around at the bottom like a castor wheel or is it welded or stationary?

I hope I was clear enough on my explanation...lol. :banghead: :USA:

Brian,

Mine has a roll pin in the rod and slot in the collar of the caster to allow some movement left and right, but it does not turn all the way around freely.

If you're not actually cutting sod, you probably don't need the coulter wheel.

Just my .$02...

Kevin

I most likey won't be cutting anything with it. :banghead:

It's pretty rusty and It would make a nice addition to my WH and the plow implement...Great something else to restore <_<

Thanks for the reply :USA:

the coulter wheel is supposed to be free floating and free rotating.
