bell's 855

I bought this 855 that was advertised as a 8hp Kohler on a junk, rusted out Wheel Horse. I bought it for the engine, but when I saw it... I knew I had to save it. :banghead:

Yesterday, I cleaned/ tuned the carburetor and got it running PERFECTLY! :horseplay:

The hubs were a bit chewed up, so I used a trick that I learned from rustyoldjunk... I moved the hubs out about 3/4" to get some "fresh" keyway... Then, I mounted the AGs. :banghead:

I bought a new muffler at TSC, it is a AC-1 tractor muffler.

Next weekend, time allowing, I will partially tear it down for a fresh paint job...

Looks good with the ag's and stack. :banghead:

Does it do a good job of quiting it down?

Thank you!

It is MUCH quieter than the old muffler it had on it. It has a deeper tone also... It sounds GREAT. :banghead:

She looks like a good project. I may have to put a hitch on my little car and do some wrangling up you way. I've only seen one other horse down here and I doubt he'd let it go. <_

Thanks, I'll post a pic as soon as I get it done... I still have to make the support bracket. I should be finishing it Monday or Tuesday.

If it will help, I have some pics of a stack install on a big block Kohler/'68 Charger 12 (using a Farmall Cub muffler from TSC):

And here's a few of a flange mounted straight pipe with support brace on my old C-161 puller:
