Look what followed me home today.....

Looks like Fall is harvest time for old horses.

I really did not have room for this but i like the look of these GT14's and figured worst case, I could clean it up, get it running and resell it and the price was just more than I was able to pass up. I can sell the Kohler for more than I paid for tractor.

If I decide to restore, its going to need a lot of the plastic stuff which seems to have suffered badly from the elements.

Might even take a crack at getting it started before winter but likely I will focus on tearing down my C161 and repainting it.

This thing felt much heavier than my C161.

Wonder how these things are for working rather than just mowing?

Love how stout the front end is and the way the hood works like a cars. tilting from the front backwards.......and the size of the rear tires.....

I used my 1969 GT-14 for snow plowing last year, and it is a beast!

Nice looking GT-14!

Congrats, nice :wh: score.   :handgestures-thumbsup:

I've heard the weight of this machine makes them great for snow plow duty.

The GT-14 is a beast...in the best possible way. I use mine year 'round for mowing, towing and pushing snow.

Although most implements are tractor specific, the investment is worth it.

I'm betting if you get it up and running like it should, you'll have a hard time parting with it.

Sounds like you guys have confirmed what I suspected. Nice worker.

I also believe Your correct Paul.

I have a hard time parting with anything once I do much work to them and I think its weight might make it a better rider than my others.

I just put the plow on my other tractor but to be honest, I think theC161 is going to get dedicated to Mowing.

So I will have to start looking into what particular Plow will fit this beast and basically start building it into a Yeti :)

any possibility of getting a picture of it with the hood open? I would like to see how it is hinged. Working on mine to get it to open from the front and would like to get any ideas I can. Thanks,Richie

Great find. The GT14 is my snow pusher and does it well. No added weight and has no problems pushing a roll of snow up my hilly driveway. Chains of coarse but thats it. My owners manual states the tractor weighs in around 900 pounds. I would have to look it up to get the exact number. You should hold onto that one for sure. OR send it my way. :ychain:

Seriously . mine was my first wheel horse and will never leave my grips .

I will try and get a pic tomorrow of the hood open and the hinge assembly. Might be Saturday though as My buddy is taking his boat out for its final voyage this year and I get to tag along and harass the fish. So it depends on whether I get back and still have enough light, But I will do so before the weekend is out.

I allways liked the lines and the size of that model. And have heard over and over again what a tank of a worker.

Best of luck. KEEP US POSTED.

i think the rear axle bracket is different but the plow uses a standard long frame plow frame with a 48" plow or even a 56"

That would be ideal if true. Then I am already half way there...

Yes Aldon, some excuse! Very nice Horse, a real worker!

Back to the story, "Look what followed me home today....." Admit to yourself, you have WHA! Classic Wheel Horse Addiction, at this stage of the serious complication, more Horses'll be following.

You need to paint one pink for the Miss. Hopefully she can share the "pain."

If you need guidance you could contact Geno. Misery loves company ya know!   :laughing-rofl:

CAUTION WHA IS ADDICTIVE

Tankman you may be on to something. I have been able to keep things somewhat under control but if I get a Sandblast Cabinet, well I believe the floodgates will open. I really like the IDE of resurrecting these older machines.

However I doubt there will ever be a pink one in my herd. Candy Apple Red with pearl or metal flake and flames maybe though:-)

A sand blast cabinet. Nice!

I have a sand blaster something or other being dropped off this weekend. Something I've always "needed" just like I "need" another Stallion.

Good luck with your worthy project. Great Horse to work and relax with.  :)

Well Tankman, it's official. I have the addiction.

I now have 2 GT 14's after a side trip this afternoon.

It's in even better shape and came with deck and plow.

I will have to post pics in next couple days of both in better details.
