Geno 1,928 #1 Posted September 16, 2014 I've been working on the wiring in the 520 in between other things as time allows. Got it running after replacing several safety switches and pigtails, removing the toggle switches, jumpers, 5 miles of electrical tape, and wire nuts. Still have a few to go but now I'm working on the charging system. I'm looking for close up pics of the engine from the top, left side of the carb where the harness runs . I think I have some pieces missing and also have some loose wires there. Thanks guys.
Ed Kennell 35,604 #2 Posted September 16, 2014 Does this one help Geno? I have pulled the front plug wire off for better access.
Geno 1,928 #3 Posted September 16, 2014 That helps a bunch. Is that a regulator or what behind the coil. I have a hole there. I also have another hole to the front of that area a little more toward the outside.
Martin 2,130 #4 Posted September 17, 2014 (edited) Geno, if it helps check out my 416 rebuild. the p216 Onan is almost exactly the same as the p220 in the horses. I have a bunch of detail pics and while a new engine harness was made up for mine, i kept most everything how it originally was. if you start from roughly here you should find what you need...... Ed Kennell 35,604 #6 Posted September 17, 2014 That round hole toward the front is the air duct to the air cleaner.
Geno 1,928 #7 Posted September 17, 2014 Thanks so much guys. Guess I have a few parts to find. Where can they be found?
Ed Kennell 35,604 #8 Posted September 17, 2014 (edited) I got my RR from Caltric thru Amazon. Onan 16-24 HP 191 1747,2106,2208...$19 w/free shipping...3day delivery. Note the two outside lugs are the AC from the alternator and the center lug is the DC to charge the battery. The rear outside lug also goes to the tach signal. Geno 1,928 #9 Posted September 17, 2014 Now I know why the tach isn't working either.
