I see the PTO will lift the load, but what holds it? And how do you set and release the brake to lower the load?

Would be very interesting to see who actually made it.  I'm guessing it's some after-market attachment that someone put decals on... if you look closely, the decals in the first pic appear to be cut down dash decals from a 1964 round hood.  You said it was on a 1054, right?  Around 63-65 was when Wheel Horse didn't make a lot of specialty accessories and it was before the "allied attachment" catalog... but they did have a brochure of "Authorized attachments" and had a lot of specialty attachments made by outside vendors. In the US, it included things like the Chimera genrator and other independent branded attachments. (I can't find a copy right now for the full list)  But.... perhaps you guys had a similar but different catalog on your side of the pond as well.

I found a pic of the generator (they also made a farm PTO seen on the right), but I can't get to the rest of the pics of the the catalog.  There's never been many of these early after market attachments found that I know of.

Hi jason..

Well you prolly right about it. im not sure i have tried to find out who made it..  but no luck yet..  and yes the winch has been on a 1054 or a 953.  and the decals on it looks to be "original" that way..  no clue"""

zoom in on the decal on this pict..https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26984719/Utstyr/20140516_020609.jpg

but i guess this is some stuff that was made over here to winch small trees
