Need help identifying wheel horse

Recommended Posts

Colt45

Hello, I need help figuring out what model of wheel horse this is. I got this from my father in-law with a blade.  It's in rough shape and there is no identification on it anywhere. It has a kohler motor but that's all I know, everything else is worn off and no id plate.  I am wanting to restore this with my daughter and need a manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've attached a few pics.

From what I can see, maybe a 68 charger 10?

Are you sure there's no id plate?  You pretty much have to lay your head on the seat to see it under the dash.... right in the center of the dash tower.

But I agree.. 68 (maybe 69) Charger...10 or 12.

Thanks for the replies! No id plate under the dash but it does resemble that pic.

I kind of thought the above pics were a little dark, so I decided to take a few more.  Maybe this will help.

With the starter-gen engine. it has to be a 68. Actually this is one of a few Chargers that were made with a starter-gen. The rest all had the small electric starter  with stator behind flywheel for charging.

There was a mid-year change to the engines used in the 1968 Charger 12 but the tractor model number stayed the same. They started the model year with the starter/generator and ended using a Bendix starter and flywheel stator. Here is the late production operator manual. We don't have one for the early models. Just remember the wiring in this manual is not correct for your tractor.

Hey there and :text-welcomewave:    I have a 68 Charger 12, looks just like that one.  Are there any numbers on the engine?  That could help with the year.

Hey Colt  :WRS:   What ever it is, it looks cool with those wide AGs and twin draw bars on the axle. Looks like a stump puller.

A lot of the parts look  the same as my '69 Commando 8.  The seat, fender pan, hood, starter/gen, and dash plate all look the same.

The foot rests and belt guard of course are different.

Thanks, your Commando looks like a nice project as well.  Good luck and if there is a great place to buy parts for it online let me know...I wouldn't mind having a deck and some more attachments for mine once I get it restored.

The classified section right here is a good place to search after you are sure of the model. Put an ad in the wanted section when you want parts....someone will respond.
