Time to start another one

Recommended Posts

The grass has slowed down here so I decided to tear another one down. This is not going to be a restore but just a cleanup and new paint on the sheet metal and a 14 horse Kohler. I always wanted a gray one and found this one this spring.

post-8484-0-22150300-1407614266.jpg

It was filthy and very greasy.

post-8484-0-16959900-1407614350.jpg

A little degreaser and a Power Wash and it cleaned up fine.

post-8484-0-99274900-1407614424.jpg

And some new shoes for the back, Going on 520 wheels.

Got to get to the blaster tomorrow and do the wheels and get some paint on.

I hope to get some painting done before old man winter comes.

Just have to hope time permits,

Oh and I ordered the decals from Terry at the show and they arrived shortly after.

Top quality as usual.

They were part of the package Terry sent. The standard items probably. They will not be used.

Jack. Good choice on the grey. One of the members sold one a few months back. He did a spruce up like your doing. Looked sweet. Sold fast. Around 500 was his price. Caught my eye. Can't wait to see yours.

Got a little more done lately but not much. The grass has started growin again just like it was Spring. Wheels blasted and painted and tires on. I must say I am a little disappointed in the fit of the tires for 10.50's. On 520 wheels they look small. I think I did read on here where Deestones run small but the price was fantastic. On to the sheet metal next I guess.

That's looking great. I like those gray tractors. I had a GT100 that I bought new and slapped a spare 48" deck on it. The 11hp B&S handled it fine. I always said I would just replace it with a Kohler when it blew but it was like the Eveready Bunny. You have a great plan putting that Kohler 14 on it.

All day rain here so its a sheet metal strippin day. Got these 3 pieces done and the big belt guard and the fender pan are well on there way. Saving the hood for last. Gosh how I hate to do them.

Time to put the sheet metal back on. I went with a bright silver instead of the gray.

"This is not going to be a restore but just a cleanup and new paint on the sheet metal and a 14 horse Kohler." Your comment in the first post. Geez!! It's looking great. Just what would you do with a full 'restore'? :handgestures-thumbupright:

That looks very nice. You are doing a great job. Those foot rests look like they were never used. Not a blemish or rust spot on them.

Sure can't. As much as we all love red those grey ones sure look good. Now bright silver. I can't wait to see the finished tractor. :)

And a little more done today. I had to do some work for my Dad this weekend so garage time was really tight.
