PMaine 31 #1 Posted July 22, 2014 Hi everyone. I need to replace the front tires on my 516-H. I have AG's on the rear which I love. I was going to match those and put AG's on the front as well. I know most members like the tri rib but they are about double the price. I found a set of Deestone AG's on ebay for $70 shipped, pretty hard to beat. I use the tractor all year long- snowblowing, johnny bucket jr, mowing, and hopefully soon rototilling. Thanks for any insight.
PMaine 31 #2 Posted July 22, 2014 Ended up buying the Deestone AG's. Will post some photos when they come in.
JaysHorse 287 #3 Posted July 23, 2014 I got the deestones on the back of my 518H. Real nice with great traction.
PMaine 31 #4 Posted July 27, 2014 Had a heck of a time getting the old tires off, got one of and the new one on and I couldnt get the bead to seat. I took them to a tire shop and they had such a hard time they didn't charge me (3 hours into it before they got it right).
AMC RULES 36,940 #5 Posted July 27, 2014 (edited) Look really great... well worth the effort. Is that a striping kit I see on your deck? Edited July 27, 2014 by AMC RULES
PMaine 31 #6 Posted July 27, 2014 I do love it, really compliments the tractor. My wife bought me a decal set last week, but she ordered the wrong one, so now I have a 520-H instead of a 516-H! The tractor has come a long way from the mess it was when I bought it this past winter.
km3h 543 #7 Posted July 27, 2014 I'm not sure I understand why the AG tires on the front other than you like the look. I would think the steering would be pretty bad in rain and snow. They do look good though.
PMaine 31 #8 Posted July 27, 2014 (edited) I mowed the lawn with them on, it steers very easily compared to the turf tires. To be honest, I had to replace the tires and just wanted to match the rears. AMC- yes that is a stripe kit, I have another thread about it somewhere around here! km3h 543 #13 Posted July 27, 2014 Easy way to inflate and set the bead on these small tires is to mount the tire and then spray a shot of starting fluid in the tire and using a torch light it. It will set that sucker in a nano second. I've done this with tires I bought on line. They came collapsed and I had a heck of a time trying straps and such. I went on line and found a video showing how it was done.
