signman501 9 #1 Posted April 21, 2014 I have a 1986 WH 520H. The governor seems to be out of control. It is wide open or idle. Can't seem to control it. Where can I find more info on it.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,444 #2 Posted April 21, 2014 1988 520-H? Service manual A governor tries to lower engine rpm. The throttle cable tries to increase the rpm. The two are linked by a spring and the balance of the two forces is the rpm you end up with. Garry

Ed Kennell 35,146 #4 Posted April 22, 2014 Signman. I just got a 1988 520H running with the help of a lot of people here on You can find this post under the tractor forum. Go to page 6 and scroll down to the " New ..Find " post. Mine had a severe surging problem and most if not all of it was caused by a dirty carburetor. signman501 9 #5 Posted April 27, 2014 OK when you remove all the springs and cables is the governor lever supposed to be very loose or should it have pressure against it? Mine is very loose and cannot get the motor to idle down. Surges badly and have no control over engine speed.
