1966 1076

So I am going to look at a 1966 1076. It is just a tractor,no attachments, and the owner says it has low compression. I know that this model was only made for one year. So I am just looking for some input from the pro's.How rare are they, and are they worth any money restored?

Only built one year because every model at the time got a new model number every year.

The last digit is the model year - 6=1966.

The 10 is the engine hp

 The 7=hydro transmission, 5=3-forward speeds, 6=6-forward speeds.

Since the engine has "low compression" and it is a hydro, it might be difficult to determine if the tranmission is good.

Sure, it's a "one year model", but that doesn't make it rare.

As far as a restoration goes, you probably won't get your time and money back, but then, after it's restored, you won't want to sell it anyway.

The 1076 is a great looking tractor.

If the price is right, go for it.

Just my opinion.

Thanks oldredrider, I think I'm gonna pick it up for a restore project, I'm just hoping the hydro trans is still good, I heard they can be expensive to fix,but it should be a fun restoration project, and my third wheel horse, the collection is growing....

I think there is a special way to check the compression on a K-series Kohler. They have a compression release that makes it so you can't check the compression in the typical fashion. I believe you have to turn the engine backwards or something to that effect to check for compression.

Mike333, if you need a transmission, I have one that came out of a 1077....same transmission, 1 year newer.

It came ou of a parts tractor, so I have no idea if it is good or bad. Just give me a PM if/when you are interested.
