psychocontractorguy 12 #26 Posted May 12, 2014 I do, to the consternation of my family....can't understand waxing "a lawn mower". Meguiar's Quikwax does the job quickly, and makes that red really shine. Not as tough as Turtle Wax, but I use it for touch-ups.
Uncle Buck 246 #27 Posted May 13, 2014 I don't wax garden tractors.

MalMac 1,328 #30 Posted May 14, 2014 The nice Red Shiny ones get waxed often and are used for work. The ones that you can't wax because of in need of paint don't get waxed but they get the same care and constant cleaning as the garage queens do. After being worked they get washed. They may not shine but they are every bit loud and proud as they sit next to the shiny ones in the barn. As a side note, wife just shakes her head and is ready to have the men in the little white coats come get me. Says she can't get the car washed but I find time to wash a rusty old garden tractor. I am just not seeing it what's the problem here.

Tankman 3,515 #33 Posted May 15, 2014 I don't even wax my truck! Don't wax my car or truck but, do wax the Stallions from time to time. This post got me, foggy 'n drizzle, went out to the barn and did some Horse groomin' and waxin'.
jdleach 525 #34 Posted May 16, 2014 Haven't ever waxed a tractor or mower of any sort, but have always been VERY picky about maintenance. After I saw this post, I looked at my 312 closely and, sure enough, some PO has waxed it in the past, as there were traces left around some screws and such. jdleach 525 #35 Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) Alright, couldn't resist. Waxed the hood and fender pan when I got home this evening. In spite of the scratches and digs, the overall effect was real good. I may spring for some polishing compound to remove some of the staining and light scratches, then wax again. Eventually, I will have to remove the sheet metal and repaint, but for right now, a good waxing should greatly enhance the tractor's appearance. Damn! These tractors are addicting. PaulC 341 #38 Posted May 16, 2014 Now that I have repainted mine I have already used a little spray quick detailer on it and I could see myself adding a coat of wax. I have already made minor scuffs and scratches reassembling it which have been tough to swallow. My friends and family all think im nuts for the most part too, that's why I like sharing on here because I know you guys understand I actually had to bite my tongue a few times while my younger bro and his buddy were helping me reassemble to not yell, "hey watch your hands you might scratch that!!!" hahaha.
