Plow Depth Wheel

Saw this on another site, a nice 'better-idea' to control plowing depth.

That's a nice addition. I've had pretty good luck in maintaining the plow depth by adjusting the angle of the plow point, but on the other side of it, I've broken a lift cable too - probably from trying to hold a depth with it as opposed to the plow floating to a specific depth. If the wheel gives you slack in the lift cable - that removes a lot of stress.

Thanks for the post.

Interesting concept, I just wonder how effective it would be with the slotted adjustment and air tire knowing that the plow exerts a tremendous amount of down pressure until the plow point and landshare are level in the bottom of the furrow

You are correct, the gauge wheel is adjustable.

It is my plow & photos.

Properly adjust the suck. And no gauge wheel is necessary. Lots of instruction on plow adjustment on the Internet.

Have you tried it out yet? How well does it work? I think what happens a lot of times is that guys make there cables too short. They raise the plow way off the ground when traveling but then there isn't enough cable for the plow to "move" as it's plowing. then catch a root or something and it can really stress the cable. I like the wheel idea. I might copy that but do the bracket a different way to hang a suitcase weight off of it if needed too.

Haven't tried it yet.

The plow has a sleeve hitch and I do not have a GT with a sleeve hitch.

I am looking for a slot to sleeve adapter, or I will have to build one.
