Here you go Craig. Still have to finish welding the wheels but you get the idea. Also got the grille sitting where it will be.I want to try and figure out how to make the hood tilt with the grille staying put.Dont know if I can make it tilt forward or maybe make it open like a car hood.

That's looking good Richie. This is a cool and interesting build. All the more reason for me to head your way so we can talk :wh:.

The look of that hubcap sitting deep inside the wheel is a nice touch.

Love the "Cheesegrader", that thing is cool. Let me know Bob, im off on mondays. As for the wheelie bars, with this motor sitting in front I hope I dont need any. They would look cool though. As far as the wheels go, what color should I paint them. Going all black for the rolling chassis. Torn between all red body tins and fenders with a dark charcoal motor & wheels or all charcoal body tin and fenders with red motor and wheels. What do you think would look better? Thanks, Richie

I'll be in touch in the next 2-3 weeks Richie. My :twocents-02cents: would be red on the body. But red has always been my favorite color and not just because of :wh:. The contrast between the red and black would be awesome.

:text-coolphotos:   Kool! Have you considered using a GT-14 hood?   :woohoo:

Looked up a gt-14 hood. Almost exactly what I want to do but with a hood spear instead of the lever. I have the 1056 hood I cut the grille out of. It lays right across the top of the grille thats there and is the perfect length. Gonna try and make my own hood spear but make it slide with a spring loaded latch pin underneath to hold the hood shut. Trying for small gas struts on the back to kick it up. I know, overkill. Thanks for the kind words.

Who will get the most upset........... Wheel Horse fans for me welding a cub fender to Wheel Horse or cub fans for me cutting a cub seat pan and welding it to a Wheel Horse? It was rusted out below the seat anyhow. It will be red soon. :handgestures-thumbup:

That's a dirty thing to do to a nice Wheel Horse but I understand the need.

Well it's not that nice but I hope it turns out alright. Like said in the first post, this was a parts tractor so I had no problem doing surgery on it.Still have to cap the top of the "bump",trim the bottom and fill the rear.

Wheels really do look great Richie.   :handgestures-thumbsup:

Verdict is still out on that Cub stuff though.

Here you go Craig. These will give you a little more of an idea of whats going on with the hood. I started stitching in the top filler panel and got this far before it started raining(or sweat) . Maybe a little of both. Anyways, I trimmed the bottom but still have to clean it up and weld in the small piece in the back. Getting there.

Maybe another one on the other side would help...    :confusion-shrug:

could try a quick cardboard template to see how it would look first.

I do still have an exhaust header to make and a belt cover of some sort. The only problem I have is that I do not have another side to match the one because I screwed up the first one. We'll see when I get there. Thanks for the idea though.

Loving the build, I may be a little late pointing this out, but if you bolt one of these carb to air cleaner manifold thingys (from a KT-17) to your M20 carb.

TSS841.jpg

You will be able to bolt one of the normal round and flat-ish style air cleaners on and have under hood clearance..

TSS1036.jpg

Oil breather pipe added..

TSS1040.jpg

M20 engines seem to run better, smoother and cooler with air being forced into the air cleaner as from the factory.. Pipe added.

TSS15201_zps960a857e.jpg

And the base of the air cleaner sealed up with an ally ring.

Too late as I have already cut the hood and welded it. It will have the factory rubber pipe forcing air into the air cleaner and I also plan on fabbing a air plenum (that will mount where the headlight panel would normally be ) and will be connected to the base of the air cleaner itself. It will be shaped like a lazy s and be about 8" wide and 2-2.5" tall.Like a cold air induction on a car. All these ideas in My head give me headaches. Thanks Ian!

Humm...an air inducted hood... :eusa-think:

that seals down around the carb?

No it doesnt seal, just a cover. BUT if things go right, the hood will tilt and the grille will stay where its at. The "air induction" part will be a mesh grille where the headlights would be and behind that will be a plenum that will go to the bottom half of the air cleaner. No forced induction just another air source. You'll see soon. Im mocking it up in cardboard.

Kinda my inspiration just made with a tractor. Make sense? I have always loved the 32-34 ford streetrods, especially the bonneville salt flats cars.

That's fantastic inspiration I'd love a rod like that..

It kinda reminds me of this. An Australian Chamberlain tractor :D

Ian, I got a couple of ideas from that tractor. Thanks for the picture. Floor frame welded, wood cut and laid into place. Mocking up a firewall and get the steering figured out next.

Well John's( Mr Wallfish) steering design worked for him and I tried to duplicate it, albeit a little different. Its a great design so i couldnt see changing it. I have the steering is mocked up and tacked, tie rods and heim joints(with studs) are made, firewall uprights are welded in place. Got the sheetmetal for the dash and have to get my tilt steering column mounts made. Coming along....... slowly

I was searching through some of my dad's posts and found pictures of this tractor before he bought it. He bought it from Bevan(yokomist) I guess before he moved back to New Zealand. Thought it was cool seeing it like that.
