stevebo-(Moderator) 8,036 #1 Posted March 26, 2014 About a year ago I fabricated a mount to hold a non wheel horse aux fuel tank. Well that worked for a little bit but then the tank started to leak so I disconnected it. Over the weekend I decided to mount this NOS D series fuel tank that I got from my buddy Reily88 (Nate) at the show a few years ago. I have seen advertising from Wheelhorse with this tank mounted like this. I like it. Should hold a bunch more fuel for mowing without having to re fuel so often. This 520 burns some gas for sure.

Desko 552 #3 Posted March 26, 2014 Is it spliced into one tank or when it starts to run out you open the other valve?

Sparky-(Admin) 19,460 #7 Posted March 26, 2014 Are you saying that the 3+ gallons in the original tank wasn't enough for your yard?? How much yard do ya have Steve ? Nice setup, looks like a factory option. Mike..........

stevebo-(Moderator) 8,036 #11 Posted March 26, 2014 That is it Craig. @Mike- I do not burn a full tank mowing the lawn but at least 1/2 to 3/4 tank per cut. Either way I have to always fill it up prior to cutting. 1/2 tank does not diet it done and running out of gas at the bottom of the back yard pretty much sucks...
leeave96 487 #12 Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) Nice looking set-up. Quick question - you said your tractor was a 1995 year make - I gather you redid the hood and seat pan decals to Wheelhorse from Toro/Wheelhorse or just replaced those parts with older ones with the right decals? My bad - I think I see it's a 520HC. Edited March 26, 2014 by leeave96
Forest Road 594 #13 Posted March 26, 2014 Very nice. I'm a bit partial to mine. I do have tis too and fuel up BUT it's a 5 gallon can. And in the warmer months I can use that space for a cooler.
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,036 #14 Posted March 26, 2014 Mine is a 1988 520hc
Ken B 3,116 #15 Posted March 27, 2014 Nice work Steve. Trust me guys, ya don't wanna run outta fuel at the bottom of the hill in Steve's back yard. Its only a hop skip and a trudge to the top but its the trudge that'll kill ya. Ever notice how ya never run outta fuel when the fuel can is close by? Didn't you add something else yesterday Steve? Shuboxlover 474 #18 Posted March 27, 2014 That very nice Steve!!!!!!!!!!! I always find it funny in the ads...everyone on the tractors, doesn't matter if it's Wheel Horse, John Deere etc. the people must be about 5' 4" and weigh about 100 lbs soaking wet. The machines look so much bigger in the ads. Anyway, that's a great setup Steve, I wish I still had my 520-HC, man that thing FLEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
