The Christmas Tractor(part 13)... and to all a good night!

Recommended Posts

Wheelhorsestory

With Christmas just five days away and all of my holiday school music concerts behind me, I take a short respite that is well deserved. Now, as a musician, I always looked forward to New Year's Eve. It would usually be a five hour gig and four times the pay.  As of late, I notice so many crazy and intoxicated drivers on the roads at 3:00am so I have decided to retire my New Year's Eve bookings.  Maybe because I am getting older, I just can't see myself carrying heavy speakers and electronics out to the car on a freezing cold, icy night.

I will be ending this mini series here, as I feel the largest parts of my story are something special that I would like to keep for just myself.  I hope all of you are enjoying my books and it has been my honor to write them.  I have met so many nice people through the Wheel Horse hobby and I cherish each of you. I know that the Final Edition is a little costly, but as you know, I wanted the highest quality in every way. I am actually selling below cost with the holiday discount and free shipping. My thoughts; most purchases would be gifts from our spouses. I was right.  I anticipate the books will be sold out fairly soon and then my contribution to the greatest hobby on earth will be completed.  The sad thing is my first edition sold for $22.95 and now  there are many for sale on Amazon for $999.95!   Imagine what the final edition will be selling for in ten years?  I encourage you to get an extra or two now in order to avoid this.

During 2013 I have encountered a few Wheel Horse people who have been hardened by this world, filled with greed, jealousy, and resentment toward me. To you I wish a Merry Christmas.  I have to wish a very special Christmas wish to Karl Lyon for all that he has done for me and Red Square. Karl has inspired me through his recovery and positive attitude. Also, my dear friend in the UK, Neil Smallwood has inspired me with his recovery and friendship as well.

Every Christmas morning, I look out my window into a snow covered yard. I imagine that Dynamark tractor sitting there with all the joy I felt on that Christmas day some 40 years ago. It is this little guy that brought me to this great hobby.

I wish a Merry Christmas to each and everyone of you.

I also want to thank you for all of your efforts Mike. The book(s) you have provided the WH community are invaluable and really provide a thread of mistique and legend to the actual history of the Pond family and the Wheel Horse Tractor company.

As I paged through your book(s) I could not help but think of all of the great poeple that worked on the WH factory floor also... What a time it must have been... hard work at the time for sure...

Happy Holidays to you and your family Mike...

Vince

A wonderful behind the scenes of the story. Thank you for sharing.  I can only imagine the countless hours you've invested in the entire project.  Perhaps you've run across some critics, but I'll wager even if they have disagreements to your work, they are thankful for the work you've done because they've gleaned something from it.  You were after all the one the Mr. Pond chose to write his words.

Enjoy your time off this season.

Merry Christmas!

I would just like to say that out of all the things that bring  joy to me  out of this hobby, the one thing that far exceeds anything else is becoming a great friend with Michael .

For someone that i have never  met in person  (yet) that has been so trustworthy , kind & helpful & someone that has picked me up when ive been feeling down .

Michael, you are a true Gentleman & i would just like to say that i love you & your Family & may God be with you allways .

Happy Christmas

Neil Smallwood
