Just got a new set of points and condenser for my k241 and I think I set them right to what it says online but I can't get the engine to run right runs rough and have backfire and gas spraying out of the carb. To me it sounds like I did something wrong any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

The gap on your points also changes your timing so you need to recheck it, won't take much to make a big change.

Watch the points with your eyes, when fully open, you should have a gap of about 0.018" and tighten the screw down.

Setting at 0.020 on an older worn engine will likely result in a knock.

Points and condensor should go to the negative side of the coil.  A battery + feed should go to the positive side of the coil.  It will come from the ign switch.
