Matt - so besides restoring GT's that were left to you, restoring engines also??? Wow nice work... :handgestures-thumbupright:

 Thanks. I've been collecting, and restoring old Briggs engines for awhile, and its a great hobby.  :thumbs:

I love those old engines bowtie. Is the long lever on the engine in the fourth picture used to start it?

 Yes, its a 1943 Briggs Model N Lever Start engine used by the military.

Well here is the can of worms I am getting ready to open.... Hobbies, I have many, that include trains, guns, cars, event staging for fun even though this is also falls in line with my profession. Trap shooting. Maybe one day, I'll visit Vandalia Ohio, as an invitation to compete with the best... :laughing-rofl:  :laughing-rofl: But here is another hobby of mine that probably should receive more of my attention than it does, poetry:

Did you stop to listen to the cry?

Of a newborn baby, before they’re dry

Did you stop to hear the gentle rain?

 Hitting the ridge, of a window pane

Did you stop to embrace the warm sunrise?

Before its sunbeam begins, to brighten the sky

Did you stop to help a stranger today?

Because they are lost and gone astray

Did you stop to smell the fragrance of a rose?

Its aroma sweet as it tickles your nose

Did you stop to glance at the heavens above?

Where a father awaits to embrace with love

Did you stop to acknowledge God’s mercy and grace?

Each day renewed to help with life’s endless pace

Did you stop to thank the Lord Above?

For giving His Son as a ransom of love

Did you stop to think where you would be today?

If God had allowed Satan to have his way

Did you stop and pray to the Lord above?

For all He has done by the power of One

Did you stop to recall all the things of today?

God allowed in your life to help others find their way!

 Absolutely Beautiful!! Thats a fantastic message in your poem! :thumbs:

Hi Matt, Just curious. Is the Fuel drawn up by vacuum to a Spray Bar in the Carb on this Smart one?. As I also see there is no Fuel Bowl visible ...... They are ALL great looking Engines. Like the 'Carry Plinths' too :bow-blue:

 Yes Richard, its uses vacuum to draw the fuel to the carb, and actually these weren't really even considered carburetors. They were just mixers. Its simplicity at its finest. :thumbs:

I'm just getting my feet wet in another interesting, to me, hobby - model ship building.

My first attempt here in the planking stage. I'm having fun with it.This is a pretty small one here - it will be about 15 inches long when finished.

Thought I'd add another one. This is really a great thread.

Freedoms Cry

If by chance, you should see me cry;

It’s not for those who fought and died.

It’s for the one’s, that don’t understand;

Freedoms price in this great land!

It’s for those with outstretched hands;

Greedy hearts from a foreign land.

It’s for the ones with a black hole to fill;

Unknown to them it’s an empty thrill.

It’s for those who never give;

Never feeling the power of how to live.

It’s for those who have bickered and complained;

But never tried to make a change!

It’s for the one’s that cannot see;

How shallow they are, “not even a pleaseâ€.

It’s for all of these and so many more;

That mock what our “forces†try to implore.

The freedom we have is bought with a price;

Blood, sweat, and tears when “forces†unite.

So the tears I cry, may one day be dry;

In hopes of a Nation that understands WHY?

And one more to add:

Just Life

Have you ever stopped to wonder why?

A Monarch fly’s the miles it fly’s

Have you ever stopped to listen to?

The silence of the flowers, when in bloom

Have you ever stopped to see the rain?

As it gently showers the earthly plane

Have you ever looked beyond your sights?

To see the darkness, of a moon lit night

Have you ever climbed a mountain high?

To crest the summit with your eyes

Have you ever watched the gentle snow?

Its elegant movements dancing to and fro

Have you ever looked beyond your fears?

Only to realize they’re surrounded by cheers

Have you ever gently kissed the sky?

And felt the warmth of a morning sunrise

Have you ever wondered why you breathe?

The simplicity of it, complicates the beliefs

Have you ever held your eye lids closed?

Only to see God’s visions so bold

Have you ever knelt beside your bed?

Realizing the pain, the sorrow and dread

Have you ever asked the Father Why?

His mercy extends to a nation with pride

Have you ever felt the compassion to pray?

For a nation that’s lost and gone astray

Have you ever wondered what you can do?

Just ask God, He’ll speak to you!

Many hobbies and passions. NRA Instructor but cant really do that in NY until I acquiesce to the repugnant  laws....., Rabbit Raising/Showing though again not lately due to relocation for profession, Furniture making, funny how RC seems prevalent in this thread, I did that too, boats and cars, and the one that took up most of my time the last few years, Precision hand-loading, Long Range Shooting, Wildcats, and doing amateur gun smith work without a lathe. One of these days I will get a lathe and mill then I may never leave the house :)

My other hobbies would be gardening and cooking. Being a second generation Italian/American, I love growing different varieties of Italian peppers, baking fresh bread, homemade pizza, and making my grandmother's meatballs and marinara. Also dabble a little bit in sausage and cheese making. Here are a couple of pics of this years pepper patch. Next time I make a pot of sauce and meatballs, I will post some pics! Ciao! ;-)
