Wheelbearing 49 #1 Posted November 12, 2013 I got sick and tired of the worm gear loosing engagement with the blower chute gear. So I modified it a little heeheehee And here is a video!! 10
js5020 111 #2 Posted November 12, 2013 Hey nice work! Looks to move at a nice steady speed. I'd get some stops on it though, of course if you bring it back to far it will definetly get your attention and you wont want to do that again.
AMC RULES 36,936 #3 Posted November 12, 2013 Very nice indeed... did you fab up all the hardware yourself?
Coadster32 793 #4 Posted November 12, 2013 Really nice job!!

dclarke 4,011 #7 Posted November 12, 2013 I like that...... A LOT! What did you use for a motor?

KC9KAS 4,741 #10 Posted November 13, 2013 Very nice fab work. As I was watching the video I was wondering if the chute had stops or not, then I saw it spin 360*. As someone else said, you will only blow the snow into your face once!
tommyg 152 #11 Posted November 13, 2013 Pretty sweet! Thanks for sharing that!
AMC RULES 36,936 #13 Posted November 13, 2013 Make up a bolt on kit and offer it for sale. I know I want one.
boovuc 1,090 #14 Posted November 13, 2013 That is an extremely useful "Mod"! Anyone who has used their snowblowers for any length of time knows why you did it and for what reason! If I had a ten dollar bill for every time I had to get off the seat or stand up to "ooch" the shute a tad so it catches again, I could take a month off! Very nice work! Make sure you have plenty of coffee so your awake when you start blowing! At least until you put a limiter on it! I do have a full face shield for a hard hat incase you don't have time! Wheelbearing 49 #15 Posted November 13, 2013 LOL no hard stops I want to take the top half of the chute off and make a video blowing the snow over the cab and label it Polish snow blower. The motor is call a globe motor. I got it from doing high school robotics competitions. I did fab it all myself. That is the exact reason I did this was the worm gear screwing up and not engaging the ring gear. Drives you nuts. As for a kit I'll talk with Matt and see if he wants to do one.
c-series don 7,644 #16 Posted November 14, 2013 I want one. If you build a bolt on kit I think you will have no problem selling them. I was going to design something like that but your design is better than what I was thinking! You build it I'll buy it !!
timo4352 147 #17 Posted November 14, 2013 Now I wonder if you could motorize the deflector too? That would be doubly cool.
W/H JUNKY 43 #18 Posted November 15, 2013 That is so very cool. Very nice fab work. Thank you. For Shareing. Keep up the good work and great ideas
c-series don 7,644 #19 Posted November 15, 2013 The deflector can be outfitted with an electric linear actuator. Another thing on my list of things to do!
BPC23 18 #20 Posted November 16, 2013 Hey, that looks great and works well too. I was planning to do the same thing. Where'd you get the driven sprocket?
cheesegrader 433 #21 Posted November 16, 2013 (edited) I love it! It would be fun to tinker and try to build my own, but I'd love to see that come out in kit form. I don't think I could do much better. Edited November 16, 2013 by cheesegrader
shorts 182 #22 Posted November 16, 2013 I haven't tried it yet but it looks like a power window motor and segment gear might work.

SousaKerry 500 #25 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) Are you riding the idlers on shoulder bolts with no bearing? You may want to at least throw some bronze bushings in there as it won't take much water to rust those components together and bind up. Great job though. Oh and was the Doors tune in the background just an accident or was it a message? This is the end..... Or is it....
