Reminds me of a bigger version of a Unimog my brother had. That one was a post-WWII vintage and it was made by Mercedes-Benz.

If it's anything like the last of our old AM Generals...

I'm sure that thing is a beast.    :handgestures-thumbsup:

Jim, you finally did it then & bought a wrecker . I remember you telling me me about 3 or 4 years ago at the Dorset steam show  that you wanted to get a heavy  hauler

congratulations on your new project , What are the plans for it then ? Hopefully not to nip down to the local store to buy some groceries .

What is it anyway, is it a  Scammel , Foden ?

Thats gonna be fun driving that around the country lanes where you live

That's awesome!! I can see the attraction...

Pretty hard to decode what it is, can't even see the steering wheel. I can spend hours crawling under old 6x6 scammells and the like looking at the hugely over engineered springs, beams and transmission.

Please share some more pics!!

Mark

Hi Guys, its  Kraz 255b. Russian as Griff said. Its not too bad on diesel, about 10-15 to the gallon. Has a 14 litre V8 diesel, sets off car alarms as you drive by!

Im not in possesion of it yet, the registration is not straight forward! But the deal is done (taken over a year to get this far).

It has been used for film work, last seen in Red 2 driving around london.

At 9.5' wide there arent many lanes it will go down Neil!

Its got a big PTO driven winch under the bed, I plan to remove the bed and fit as big a hiab as I can find and use it for recovery (and fun!).

Is it really 780 horsepower and 10-15 miles to the gallon? My brothers hybrid series 3 with a v8 got less than 10!

I would imagine narrow country lanes aren't a problem when you can go through most things :D

So do you intend to keep that on your driveway at the bungalow then Jim ?

can you drive it without having HGV licence , due to it being a clasic ? or have you got your HGV now ?

I think its about 300HP isnt it?

I reckon if you gave it a bootful you could get it into single figures! It'll crack on at 50mph if you can stand the noise (straight pipe!)

Hi Neil,

no chance, it wouldnt even go down the road! It'll have to live at work.

Pre 1960, so can drive on a car licence (as long as its unladen). Will do HGV one day but just done trailer test and I dont think I want to do another driving test for a while!

Yea, I reckon that'd be a bit more thirsty!

I just love the russian engineering, all very interesting. You get a whole load of machine for your money with russian machinery. Although everything is very large, its all pretty simple.
