Two wheeled tractor project

Anybody know much about these? Two speed, ratchet drive hubs, 1947 Briggs NPR-6 engine. Says "Springfield" on the pulley. No other tags or marks that I've found.

Picked it up last year. It was a freebie, and it runs. It smokes like a locomotive because the rings are shot, but it does run... Engine parts are still out there, but I don't know if it's worth messing with or not.

Here's a few pics:

Kevin it looks like a neat toy...get it running, hook a sulky to it & tool around the tractor shows!

The cultivater is nifty...did the owner Z bart it or have Orkin spray it for termites?

Also where is the rust on your trailer...LOL.

That looks clean, how about a pic of that?

Stephen,

Funny you should notice that. Pop had just finished it at the time, and that two-wheeler was the very first thing loaded on it. His neighbor was the one with the two- wheeled tractor.

My trailer is the 5th one I know of he's built. Mine is 5 feet wide inside, and 10 feet long. It's got a full 1/8th inch steel plate floor, and is constructed mostly of 2 inch angle. He even rolled the fenders out of 1/8th plate. He's built them ranging in size from smaller than mine to his tandem (weighs about 2,000 lbs empty :P ), and every one of them is awesome. Pretty talented old fart! :D

I'm not sure how much mine weighs, but combined with my little 4 banger Tacoma, the whole rig weighed in today on the scrap yard scales at 4600 lbs. I figure my truck must be right around 3250-3500 soaking wet?

I wish I could say it still looked that good, but it's definately showing it's use. It does still get compliments though, but because of how strong it is built as opposed to it's looks. I haven't found one you can buy outright that is built like it, but all his work is the same way.

Sorry to go on and on about it, but anytime somebody notices his work, it makes me pretty darn proud.

Kevin
