E tank enlightening

Recommended Posts

Eric857

Hey redsquare!

I am restoring a wheelhorse 857 for my senior project for my high school. I am currently tearing down my tractor and sanding it all down to metal so i can prime and paint. I have heard about e tanks and i have seen there effects but i dont understand what they are or how to make one... if anyone could enlighten me, that would be awesome. Please post pictures of results of using one. Before and after?

Thanks,

Eric

WELCOME to RED SQUARE!!!!

E-tanks are so easy to construct and sure beats sanding!!!  Find a plastic tub, some sacrificial steel, battery charger, and "Arm-n-Hammer" WASHING Soda (not Baking Soda); it comes in a yellow box 3lb box and can be found in most super markets and hardware stores.

Have fun with your project and keep us posted!!!

Here are links to two sites that really helped me understand how it works and how to set it up. Just remember to be safe and set up the tank outside. The process releases hydrogen and oxygen, the same as the fuels that launch the space shuttle!

There are also lots of you tube videos on the subject

If you would like to see the results you can check out my rebuild -

I built my first tank from items found around the shed. Then I "upgraded" to a larger tank to fit bigger parts.

Also don't forget :wwp:

Can't wait to see you project progress

Welcome to RS.  My thread on it is pretty deep in the archives, but there non-the less. I did a rim that I couldn't believe came out amazing. (I also threw a whole suburban in the tank also)

Now that I need to recharge my tank I will have to get a new box of washing

soda. You see my wife found out what many have missed, a dash in each laundry

load works wonders. I even got to dipping my hands in the tank to finish

cleaning my hands,They will look like a surgeons hands and your wife will

thank you for it. When my tank needs changed I just dip it out and put it on

the yard, nothing harsh or harmful about it. Not like my acid tank, I do use

both for certain things !
