Recommended Posts

IronDuke

I am trying to fix up this engine but have had no luck in doing so, i got the engine in pieces and am trying to reassemble the fly wheel etc. But when i put it all back together i pull the, pull start pulley and my fly wheel does not turn. :dunno:Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Duke.

Sounds like the pull rope is not causing the mechanism to engage the flywheel when pulled.  Some recoils have ball bearings that, when you pull the rope, the centrifugal force engages the balls in the mechanism and then the balls return to their spot after the engine starts.  The balls could be stuck and need to be cleaned, or are missing (I've seen them with 6 balls), or what ever mechanism you have there could be gummed up.  I would look for something like that.  It may help to let us know what engine and recoil we are talking about. :eusa-think:

Might have to disassemble(open up)your recoil to investigate why the dogs aren't engaging the starter cup that attaches to the front of the flywheel.

Down load the H-60 manual and check out the recoil assembly(pg.6)

should give you an idea of what's going on in there.

You could also pull another recoil from a parts motor if you have another on hand.
