Trailer to my 706

Recommended Posts

Crille68

Hi!

I start with something obvious...I'm not american or english - I'm from Sweden.

Becuse of that my writing might need some extra effort from you all.

But that is not all... :D I would like some extra help with ideas to get a trailer to my Wheel Horse the best that a man can get.

Well...

At first I borrowd my neighbours trailer for a car.

I think it is a little too big to use in my garden...

Soo...

Today I bought a smaller one:

But as you all can see it is not in mint condition... :USA:

I need to rebuild it to suit my needs...

I do not know so much of my "barrow" but it looks a little military because the rims are military green and the tires have "Military" on the sides.

I would like some help with ideas to get my trailer the best I can get... :omg:

My intention is to use it in my garden to move soil, dirt, leaves, timber and wood.

Does anyone have ideas, pictures or something else to help me getting started?

I am not in a hurry so we have time to get it right... :banghead:

See U!

Looks like that would be a good cart. Id cut the tongue off and add another one. Through a couple 4x4s across the deck and you would have yourself a nice little deckover cart.

I like that frame. Here are a few pluses and minuses to it. It is fairly high, so loading it will take a bit more work if you are shoveling or lifting.

However, when dumping the big wheels will be a big plus.

My experience is that you should not go through the effort of making a dumping mechanism - when the time comes to dump you can just disconnect it from the tractor.

Since dumping is so useful I would make sure that either the rear is removable, OR that you make it angled like on the old Wheel Horse carts (see picture in our picture place).

I would make the sides solid, but making them removable (e.g stake side design) is so easy you might as well do it. Id probably use ply wood though I would put 2x4s (or metric equivalent) around the top side - with a dado (plough?) grove cut so that the flat of the 2x4 is grooved to fit over the edge of the plywood to protect it as well as to add stiffness.

Actually I think I would extend the 2x4s past the ends by 3 inches with a cut out on each so that the corners interlock. Usually this is done with metal tabs, but the 2x4's would be easier to line up.

I hope this helps get your creative juices flowing.:banghead:

And again, :omg:

Hi Crille.

I have some pictures of a trailer that was made from a large mobile home frame.

The ideas here can be used in a smaller trailer like yours.

I use this trailer to haul wood to burn for heat in the winter.

If you look closely you can see that each side comes off if you wish to load from the side of the trailer. It has interlocking metal corner plates to keep all the sides together. The upright wood is 2" x 4" lumber. The horizontal wood in the sides is 1" x 6" lumber. And the wood in the bottom is 2" x 6" lumber.

Hope this helps with your ideas.

Here is a picture of the interlocking plates. These are available at most farm stores here.

Hiya Crille  , its great to have another European aboard :banghead:

Love the wheels on your new trailer :USA:

Here's another pic of a trailer to help you along.

The sides and back fold down or can be slid off the hinges to take the panels right off.

It does tip, but not tip enough to empty much out

Anyway, thanks for posting and keep us updated with your progress :omg:
