603 resto

I have not gotten to far into this yet but I will have it down by show time. I noticed that when I started to tear the tractor apart it had been used very hard. I found that the dash was welded to the frame. Is that original? I hope to sandblast, and then paint in my grandmothers paint booth. I do know that the steering wheel is not original. Most of my other pictures are on a different camera.Posted Image

Looks like a good start! I am pretty sure the dash is welded to the frame originally.

Yes, the dash tower is part of (welded to) the frame on the 603.  Looking forward to the documentation on this.  I sold my 603 a few years back.  It's a fun one.

Should be an H60 Tecumseh.

Back then did they offer conversions to kohlers? It's painted like a jd and I saw another one at the show that was exactly the same. Honestly I hate Tecumsehs.

No. It was not optional. The 603 was the economy model. In other words. .. the cheapest, stripped down model of the garden tractors. If you wanted the Kohler, you bought the 753.

A lot of people bolted on a Kohler after the teccy went bad though.

Will that motor be hard to find?

An H-60 that will work will be pretty easy. The exact spec for the 603.. probably a little harder, but still doable
